Abstract

This paper seeks to make a contribution with regards to method and theory in liturgical research. After a preliminary diagnosis of the Dutch Reformed South African liturgical landscape, and the challenges that this specific context pose to the study of liturgy, the role of liturgy in the need for social change in South Africa is expanded upon. Therefore it is being argued that the well known key liturgical research concepts of participatory research and liturgical inculturation should be expanded in order actively to take on the South African contextual challenges in the whole research design. In conclusion some suggestions are made.
