Part 2In the second article we look at the life of DP Faure as a productof the liberal theology of the nineteenth century. He grew up as a member of the Dutch Reformed Church and went to Leiden for theological studies. On his return to Cape Town it was clear that he would not fit in the Dutch Reformed Church and he did not even tried to get ordained. In controversy with some of the ministers of the Dutch Reformed Church over several doctrinal issues he founded the Free Protestant Church. Most of the information for this article comes from his autobiografy.
