The church as a denomination is part of the church in general and therefore – as it is the case with the church – also church. Both from a sociological and an ecclesiological view the church as a denomination should be seen as an institution whose own character is and should be qualified by the Christian faith. That is why confessions as the most basic documents in the response of the church to the message of the Bible is called confessions of faith or credo’s. That is also why a true church should be a confessing and unified community of Christian believers. The article concludes that the denomination as a bond of congregations should also play its role in helping these congregations to serve society with the Word of God.Published
