Abstract

Jesus’ Healing of Demonised Persons in the Light of Three Examples from the Gospels
In view of present day reports of often disputable practices of exorcism on the one hand and critical views that the devil, demons and exorcism form part of an outdated worldview on the other hand, a study is made of Jesus’ healing of demonized persons. A survey is made of three examples of Jesus’ healing practices to identify the features of demonic possession and Jesus’ healings. According to the Gospels demon-possession was a stark reality, but Jesus demonstrated his absolute authority over Satan and his demons in a unique way.
