Abstract

The purpose of this article is to investigate the complex problem of moral education in schools.
Moral problems in the South African society are reflected in schools and the church as a role player cannot escape this debate. Different approaches towards moral education are critically evaluated from a South African perspective. Hindrances regarding moral education in schools and the alleviation thereof, as disclosed in an empirical investigation under teachers, are discussed.
