New paradigmatic developments open up undiscovered horizons of understanding the relationship between science and religion. It’s is claimed that the mind-body dualism is outdated and that the roots of human corporeality are to be rediscovered. In travelling along this road, meaning is found in a contextual interdisciplinary description with a systemic emphasis. Possible indicators, regarding epistemology and methodology, are formulated in order to map this expedition. The meaning that an emphasis on the biological holds for a pastoral anthropology is discovered. By taking cognisance of this, pastoral therapists, amongst others, can play an indispensable role in a new way of doing science and therapy, but also take the lead in acting ethically in the task of caring for the embodied soul.Published
