Abstract

David Tracy’s growing appreciation, understanding, formulation and reformulation of both the mystical and prophetic currents in Christianity and the relationship between them are examined with reference to three of Tracy’s major dialogue partners: 20th-century so-called “mystical-political” Latin-American liberation theology and European political theology, Buddhism and postmodernism. Then follows a reflection upon the differences between Tracy’s and other forms of mystical-prophetic theology and Tracy’s unique contribution to the discourse on mystical-prophetic theology.
