Is it possible to believe in God and speak about God with intellectual integrity in ourpost-modern world with its apparent cultural disintegration of Christian symbols, language and rituals? The article wants to examine the profound critique of theFrench philosopher, Jean Luc Marion on western metaphysics, and his renewalof the phenomenological tradition of Husserl and Heidegger, to explore if he canopen a way forward for theology in our postmodern cultural context. Marion claimsthat there are phenomena that can be received that exceeds being and thought, making it possible to contextualize theology as a non-metaphysical possibility. Thecritical question that Marion must answer to accomplish his purpose is: can he trulyovercome metaphysics, or is he just affirming that which he criticizes?Downloads
