Abstract

The issue addressed in this article is the way in which time is presented in the Letter to the Galatians. Taking the reference to the “fullness of time” in Galatians 4:4 as point of departure, this investigation focuses on three eras: time before the fullness of the time, the fullness of the time and the future. The characteristics of each of these eras are discussed. In the final section the interrelatedness of the three eras is discussed, as well as the importance attached to the central era (the fullness of time) and the theological implications this has.
