Abstract

Afro-pessimism and post September 11, 2001 despair has taken hold of many people in the remotest communities of the world. This paper reflects critically on these realities and makes an attempt to point to new areas of study and action for missiology. The philosophical argument that recent changes in history mean the “end of hope” is critically assessed. Instead, it is proposed that a new religious horizon of hope has arisen. Its implications for missiology in an African1 context are then explored.
