Abstract

Many scholars have tried to deï¬ne the relationship between church and state in South Africa between 1652 and 1994. This paper adresses this relationship as it manifests in the history of the Dutch Reformed Church, with particular reference to the Constantinian and Theocratic models of the relationship between church and state.
