Die treffende titel Twyfelaars wat glo kom uit 'n gedig van I.L. de Villiers getiteld "Balansstaat". Die boek se opset in sy geheel herinner aan 'n soort balansstaat en die "weegskaal" waarna daar ook in dieselfde gedig verwys word. Wanneer die een skrywer sy twyfel en kommer verwoord, en die skaal se balans na die een kant kantel, kom die weerwoord van die gespreksgenoot en vriend, lig die arm wat gekantel het, en word die balans herstel. Die balans hou egter nie lank nie. Die skaal in Twyfelaars wat glo bly dinamies; soos geloof en soos twyfel as integrale deel van geloof, bly dit 'n voortdurende stryd, of soektog of reis, en beleef die leser hoe die gewigte op die skaal telkens geplaas en weggevat word sodat die arms voortdurend kantel.
